6DOF Motion Driving Simulator
While Virtual Reality (VR) develops awareness and decision-making, simulators provide an immersive, risk-free driving experience in a fully safe, controlled environment. The VIRSAT Graded Road Driving Simulator allows drivers to experience realistic road hazards such as dust, fatigue, rollover situations, driving too close to other vehicles, and tire blowouts using 3D visuals, motion feedback, and realistic sound.
During a typical 25-minute session, trainees encounter these hazards and receive immediate feedback on their performance, helping even experienced drivers identify areas for improvement.
The simulator currently covers the 4WD Toyota Land Cruiser, with heavy vehicles planned. It complements defensive driving training by enabling drivers to move from understanding road safety rules to applying them effectively in realistic, high-risk scenarios.
